OCSB
Our co-operative education program is a unique experience that allows students to earn secondary school credits while completing a work placement. The program allows participants to take what they learned in school and apply it to a real-world work environment. Administrators and teachers ensure that the student’s duties and learning experiences at the workplace are closely related to one or more courses that the student is currently enrolled in.
OCDSB
Cooperative Education provides secondary school students the ability to earn credits while working in a community outside of their school. Students will have the opportunity to develop personal and workplace skills important to their career and life planning.
LDSB
The Co-operative Education Program (co-op) allows students to earn credits by integrating course curriculum with learning at a work placement. Co-op programs are available in all secondary schools, and allow students to experience a career or area of interest before finalizing plans for post-secondary education, training or employment. Students in all pathways – apprenticeship, college, university, or the workplace – can participate.
UCDSB
Co-operative education programs offer students an excellent way of expanding their interests and exploring their career options. By integrating classroom learning with practical experience in the workplace students are better prepared to make the transition from high school to work, apprenticeship programs, college and/or university.
RCDSB
Co-operative Education is a Ministry of Education-approved program that allows students to earn secondary school credits with practical experience in the workplace. Partnerships between educators and businesses, service-providers, non-profits, and other organizations provide students with training and work experience.
CDSBEO
Cooperative education, Experiential Learning and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) provide students with authentic and relevant learning experiences in a workplace setting. They also offer opportunities for an early start on an apprenticeship training in one of more than 200 career areas. OYAP is a program that allows secondary school students to learn a skilled trade at the same time as completing the requirements to graduate from high school with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
CSDCEO
The cooperative education program (COOP) is intended for all students who have completed a minimum of 16 credits, regardless of the program of studies followed. CO-OP credits leading to OSSD are earned through on-the-job training. Placement is arranged by cooperative education teachers. The student can be on a cooperative education placement for two courses or four courses for one semester, therefore on a half-time or full-time basis.
CECCE
Students in grades 10 through 12 can participate in the cooperative education program , which allows them to gain hands-on experience in a workplace. They will thus be able to better target their career choices and develop the knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential in today's society.
ALCDSB
OYAP is a ministry-approved specialized program that enables students to earn credits towards their OSSD by taking a cooperative education course for which the community component is in an apprenticeship trade.
RCCDSB
Cooperative Education (Co-op) provides secondary students with valuable experiential learning to apply, refine and extend their learning from the classroom into the community. Co-op allows students to earn secondary school credits while completing a work experience placement in the community. Co-op begins with an in-school pre-placement learning plan to ready students for the community experience. Students work with the Cooperative Education Teacher to find a community work experience that aligns with their interests and skills. Students are monitored, assessed and evaluated by the Cooperative Education teacher and ongoing feedback is provided from the placement supervisor or employer. Most Co-op placements are designed as half-day programs.
